Bellis (Template:IPAc-en)<ref>Template:Cite Merriam-Webster</ref> is a genus of flowering plants in the family Asteraceae.<ref>Linnaeus, Carl von. 1753. Species Plantarum 2: 886-887 in Latin</ref><ref name=h>Tropicos, Bellis L.</ref>
The group is native to Europe, the Mediterranean and northern Africa. One species has been introduced into North America and others into other parts of the world.<ref name=flora>Template:Citation</ref><ref>Altervista Flora Italiana, genere Bellis includes photos and European distribution maps</ref> The genus includes the familiar common daisy Bellis perennis.
DescriptionEdit
Bellis species are mostly perennials, and grow from Template:Convert tall. They have simple erect stems, and most species have basal leaves. They have radiate flower heads that are produced one per stem.<ref name=flora/>
