The population density was Template:Convert. There were 480 housing units at an average density of Template:Convert. The racial makeup of the city was 97.4% White, 0.2% African American, 0.5% Native American, 1.1% from other races, and 0.9% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 2.5% of the population.
There were 466 households, of which 44.6% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 59.7% were married couples living together, 9.9% had a female householder with no husband present, 5.2% had a male householder with no wife present, and 25.3% were non-families. 22.3% of all households were made up of individuals, and 10.7% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.85 and the average family size was 3.38.

The racial makeup of the city was 98.62% White, 0.57% Asian, 0.24% from other races, and 0.57% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.81% of the population.

The average household size was 3.13 and the average family size was 3.49.

TransportationEdit
Colwich had passenger rail service until at least fall 1964 on the Missouri Pacific Railroad, sitting on the line from Wichita to Geneseo.<ref>{{#invoke:citation/CS1|citation |CitationClass=web }}</ref> As of 2025, the closest passenger rail service is at the Newton station, served by Amtrak's Southwest Chief.
