History and profileEdit
Interior Design was founded by Harry V. Anderson in Manhattan in 1932.<ref name=obi>Template:Cite news</ref> He was also the publisher and editor of the magazine, which temporarily ceased publication during World War II.<ref name=obi/> Following the war Anderson and John Hay Whitney of Whitney Communications Company relaunched the magazine.<ref name=obi/> In 1959 the company became the sole owner of Interior Design.<ref name=obi/> Harry V. Anderson served as the editor and publisher until 1969.<ref name=obi/>
The other editors have included Donald D. Macmillan;<ref>Princeton Alumni Weekly, 72, i, 1971. "He was managing editor of INTERIOR DESIGN magazine and was the author of numerous magazine articles. He also wrote a number of books including “Good Taste in Home Decorating" and "Great American Furniture Styles, 1630-1830.</ref> Sherman R. Emery, from 1960 to 1983;<ref>Best: from the Interior design magazine Hall of Fame John C. Aves, Pirrie B. Aves, 1992, p. 236. "Sherman R. The current editor is Cindy Allen.
