Pseudopus is a genus of anguid lizards that are native to Eurasia.<ref name="Klembara et.al.2010"/> One extant species remains, the sheltopusik,<ref name=RDB>Template:NRDB genus</ref> with four fossil species. They are the most robust members of subfamily Anguinae,<ref name="Klembara et.al.2010">Template:Cite journal</ref><ref name=Klembara2015>Template:Cite journal</ref> with the largest species †P. pannonicus growing up to 2 metres in length.<ref>Template:Cite journal</ref> The oldest fossils of the group date to the Early Miocene, but there are possible Oligocene records.<ref>Template:Cite journal</ref>
