Resolute Bay

Named after the Arctic exploration vessel Template:HMS,<ref name="RBCH">{{#invoke:citation/CS1|citation |CitationClass=web }}</ref> it is located in Parry Channel^{{{#if:map|map|[1]}}} on the southern side of Cornwallis Island.^{{{#if:map|map|[2]}}} The hamlet of Resolute^{{{#if:map|map|[3]}}} is located on the northern shore of the bay with Resolute Bay Airport^{{{#if:map|map|[4]}}} to the northwest. The Inuit associated with Resolute Bay are called Qausuittuq<ref>{{#invoke:citation/CS1|citation |CitationClass=web }}Template:Dead link</ref> and the population of the hamlet in the 2021 census was 183.<ref name=2021census>{{#invoke:citation/CS1|citation |CitationClass=web }}</ref>

On the western shore, the Defence Research Telecommunications Establishment (DRTE) and the Communications Research Centre Canada<ref>{{#invoke:citation/CS1|citation |CitationClass=web }}</ref> operated a launch site for sounding rockets.^{{{#if:map|map|[5]}}} Between 1966 and 1971 rockets of the types Black Brant and Boosted Arcas were launched.<ref>{{#invoke:citation/CS1|citation |CitationClass=web }}</ref><ref>{{#invoke:citation/CS1|citation |CitationClass=web }}</ref>

A small hut built some 600 years ago by the Thule people, ancestors of the Inuit, near the hamlet of Resolute it was restored by archaeologists.
