Whigfield

Whigfield is an Italian dance act fronted by Danish singer, former model, songwriter, and record producer Sannie Charlotte Carlson (born 11 April 1970), known by her various stage names, including Whigfield, Sannie, or simply Naan.<ref>Template:Cite magazine</ref><ref>Template:Cite magazine</ref><ref>Template:Cite magazine</ref><ref name="Naan">{{#invoke:citation/CS1|citation |CitationClass=web }}</ref><ref name="Larkin2000">Template:Cite book</ref> She is best known for her 1993 single "Saturday Night", which became an international hit the following year.
Based in Italy at the time, Carlson collaborated with Italian producer Larry Pignagnoli, and "Saturday Night" entered the top five in Italy.<ref name="Billboard: Italian Acts">Template:Cite magazine</ref><ref>Template:Cite magazine</ref> The single "Another Day" also peaked at number three in Italy.<ref>Template:Cite magazine</ref> Additionally, the single "Sexy Eyes" charted in various markets, along with "Another Day" and "Think of You", both of which entered the top ten in the United Kingdom, Switzerland, Norway, and her native Denmark.<ref name="Official Chart Company: Whigfield">{{#invoke:citation/CS1|citation |CitationClass=web }}</ref><ref>{{#invoke:citation/CS1|citation |CitationClass=web }}</ref><ref>Template:Cite magazine</ref><ref>{{#invoke:citation/CS1|citation |CitationClass=web }}</ref>

Early lifeEdit
Carlson was born in Skælskør, Denmark. As a child, she spent several years in Africa before returning to her native country. Prior to her singing career, Carlson worked as a model and studied music.<ref name="Billboard: Italian Acts"/> She performed in a duo<ref name="Larkin2000"/> before meeting producer Larry Pignagnoli, at which point she adopted the name "Whigfield".<ref name="Billboard: Italian Acts"/><ref name="Sannie Carlson (a.k.a Whigfield)">{{#invoke:citation/CS1|citation |CitationClass=web }}</ref>
