Before AFRINIC was formed, [[IP address]]es ([[IPv6 address|IPv6]] and [[IPv4]]) for Africa were distributed by the [[Asia-Pacific Network Information Centre]] (APNIC), the [[American Registry for Internet Numbers]] (ARIN), and the [[RIPE NCC]].
