The bench press is a [[Compound movements|compound movement]], with the primary muscles involved being the [[pectoralis major]], the [[deltoid muscle|anterior deltoids]], and the [[triceps brachii muscle|triceps brachii]]. Other muscles located in the back, legs and core are involved for stabilization.
