Accordingly, Circassians have been designated as ''Adygeans'' in Adygea, ''Kabardians'' in Kabardino-Balkaria, ''Cherkess'' in Karachay-Cherkessia, and ''Shapsug'' in Krasnodar Krai; all four are essentially the same people.
