The '''consultative status''' is a phrase that has been in use since the establishment of the [[United Nations]] and is used within the UN community to refer to "Non-governmental organizations ([[Non-governmental organisation|NGO]]s) in Consultative Status with the [[United Nations Economic and Social Council]]" (see [[List of organizations with consultative status to the United Nations Economic and Social Council|list]]). Also some [[Intergovernmental organizations|international organizations]] could grant Consultative Status to NGOs (for example - [[Council of Europe]]).
