It lies on the [[River Isla, Perthshire|River Isla]] in the broad and fertile [[Valley of Strathmore]], {{convert|4|mi|km|0|abbr=off}} south of [[Blairgowrie and Rattray|Blairgowrie]]. The [[A94 road]] from [[Perth, Scotland|Perth]] to [[Forfar]] runs through the town, and it had a [[Coupar Angus railway station|station]] on the [[Scottish Midland Junction Railway|Midland Junction]] line until 1967.
