He scored 267 goals from 490 appearances in [[the Football League]] playing for [[Plymouth Argyle F.C.|Plymouth Argyle]], [[Bolton Wanderers]] and [[Arsenal F.C.|Arsenal]]. He was the first footballer to be transferred for a fee in excess of Β£10,000, was the first to score at [[Wembley Stadium (1923)|Wembley]]{{snd}}in the [[1923 FA Cup Final]]{{snd}}and was capped nine times for [[England national football team|England]].
