It has an [[apparent visual magnitude]] of 3.56,<ref name=SIMBAD/> making it a fourth-magnitude star that is visible to the naked eye from the southern hemisphere. [[Stellar parallax|Parallax]] measurements yield an estimated distance of {{Convert|19.89|ly|pc|abbr=off|lk=on}} from [[Earth]].<ref name=GaiaDR3/> This makes it one of the [[List of nearest bright stars|nearest bright stars]] to the Solar System.
