The female gonad, the [[ovary]], produces egg cells. Both of these gametes are [[haploid]] cells. Some [[hermaphroditic]] animals (and some humans{{px2}}{{mdash}}{{hsp}}see [[Ovotesticular syndrome]]) have a type of gonad called an [[ovotestis]].
