It is the largest plateau of its kind in [[Europe]], with a cold year-round [[alpine climate]], and one of Norway's largest [[glacier]]s, [[Hardangerjøkulen]], is situated here. Much of the plateau is protected as part of [[Hardangervidda National Park]].
