Highways in [[Taiwan]] are classified into five types:

The system does not apply to other parts of Taiwan, namely [[Kinmen]] and [[Matsu Islands|Lienchiang]] counties, and [[List of islands of Taiwan|islands in the South China Sea]].

Expressways in Taiwan may be controlled-access highways similar to National Freeways or limited-access roads. Most have urban roads 
and intra-city expressways (as opposed to Highway system) status, although some are built and maintained by cities.
