The '''Interrail Pass''' is a [[rail pass]] available to European citizens and residents. The pass allows unlimited rail travel in (and between) all 33 participating countries for a certain period of time. High-speed trains and night trains often require a paid seat reservation. The concept of a pan-European rail pass originated in the late 19th century and evolved into the international Rundreise System which existed prior to World War I. The concept was revived after World War II in the form of the [[Eurail Pass]] in 1959 for international tourists and the Interrail pass in 1972 for Europeans.
