He played in [[Major League Baseball]] (MLB) for 16 seasons and is best known for the 10 years he spent with the [[Philadelphia Phillies]] as a [[right fielder]], from 1960 through 1969. He was an All-Star for three seasons and four [[Major League Baseball All-Star Game|All-Star games]].{{efn|name=twoASG|MLB held two All-Star Games each season from 1959 through 1962.}} He led the [[National League (baseball)|National League]] (NL) in [[triple (baseball)|triples]] twice and [[double (baseball)|doubles]] once, and gained his greatest prominence in the {{Baseball year|1964}} season in which he was named the [[Major League Baseball All-Star Game MVP Award|MVP]] of the [[Major League Baseball All-Star Game|All-Star Game]] and he was the runner-up for the NL [[MLB Most Valuable Player Award|Most Valuable Player Award]].
