The forest is characterized by [[broadleaf tree]] species with [[evergreen]], glossy and [[wikt:elongated|elongated]] leaves, known as "laurophyll" or "lauroid". Plants from the laurel family ([[Lauraceae]]) may or may not be present, depending on the location.
