The town is {{convert|11|mi}} north-west of [[Swansea]] and {{convert|12|mi}} south-east of [[Carmarthen]]. At the [[2021 United Kingdom census|2021 census]] the community had a population of 25,366, and the built up area had a population of 42,155.
