The name means the '[[Manorialism|Manor]] of [[Saint Pyr|Pŷr]]'. The community includes [[Jameston]], [[Lydstep]] and [[Manorbier Newton]]. An [[Wards and electoral divisions of the United Kingdom|electoral ward]] with the same name exists.
