In subsequent iterations, Mechagodzilla is usually depicted as a man-made artificial weapon designed to defend [[Japan]] against Godzilla and other [[kaiju]]. In all incarnations, the character is portrayed as a robotic [[doppelgänger]] of Godzilla with a vast array of high-tech weaponry.
