The film uses the musical setting of the [[Montmartre|Montmartre Quarter]] of [[Paris]] and is the final part of Luhrmann's ''[[Red Curtain Trilogy]]'', following ''[[Strictly Ballroom]]'' (1992) and ''[[Romeo + Juliet]]'' (1996).
