Polymestor appears in Euripides' play ''[[Hecuba (play)|Hecuba]]'' and in the [[Ovid]]ian myth "Hecuba, Polyxena and Polydorus". Polymestor was also the name of a Greek king of [[Arcadia (ancient region)|Arcadia]].<ref>[http://www.maicar.com/GML/002GG/ggPhylleus.html Polymestor], Polymestor 2, son of Aeginetes 2, became king of Arcadia after his father.
