A '''pontifical university''' or '''athenaeum''' is an [[ecclesiastical university]] established or approved directly by the [[Holy See]], composed of three main ecclesiastical faculties (Theology, Philosophy and [[canon law (Catholic Church)|Canon Law]]) and at least one other faculty.
