'''Port Colborne''' is a city in [[Ontario]], Canada that is located on [[Lake Erie]], at the southern end of the [[Welland Canal]], in the [[Regional Municipality of Niagara|Niagara Region]] of [[Southern Ontario]]. The original settlement, known as Gravelly Bay, dates from 1832 <ref name=autogenerated1>{{cite web |url=http://www.britannica.com/EBchecked/topic/470848/Port-Colborne#tab=active~checked,items~checked&title=Port+Colborne+--+Britannica+Online+Encyclopedia|title=Port Colborne - Ontario, Canada|access-date=July 31, 2017}}</ref> and was renamed after [[John Colborne, 1st Baron Seaton|Sir John Colborne]], a British war hero and the [[Lieutenant Governor of Upper Canada]] at the time of the opening of the (new) southern terminus of the [[First Welland Canal]] in 1833.
