It created the [[X Window System]], [[Kerberos (protocol)|Kerberos]], and [[Zephyr (protocol)|Zephyr Notification Service]].<ref name="Athena Network Services"/> It influenced the development of [[thin computing]], [[LDAP]], [[Active Directory]], and [[instant messaging]].
