The term '''rolling stock''' in the [[rail transport]] industry refers to [[railway]] [[vehicle]]s, including both powered and unpowered vehicles: for example, [[locomotive]]s, [[Railroad car#Freight cars|freight]] and [[Passenger railroad car|passenger cars]] (or coaches), and [[Railroad car#Non-revenue cars|non-revenue cars]]. The word ''stock'' in the term is used in a sense of [[inventory]].
