An '''undercroft''' is traditionally a cellar or [[storage room]],<ref>{{cite book|last=Friar|first=Stephen|title=The Sutton companion to castles|date=2003|publisher=Sutton|location=Stroud|isbn=9780750927444|page=164}}</ref> often brick-lined and [[Vault (architecture)|vaulted]], and used for storage in buildings since [[medieval]] times.
