"Above" means in the [[vertical direction]] ([[Vertical and horizontal|plumb line]]) opposite to the [[gravity direction]] at that location ([[nadir]]). The zenith is the "highest" point on the celestial sphere. The direction opposite of the zenith is the [[nadir]].
