He allies himself with [[Ricimer]], ''de facto'' ruler of [[Rome]], and marries Anthemius's daughter [[Alypia (daughter of Anthemius)|Alypia]] to him, to strengthen the relationship and end the hostilities between the Eastern and Western Empire.
