==Early life== MacInnis was born in [[Inverness, Nova Scotia]], and grew up in nearby [[Port Hood, Nova Scotia|Port Hood]], a fishing village on [[Cape Breton Island]].<ref name="LOHBio" /> He is the seventh of eight children born to Alex and Anna Mae MacInnis, and one of six brothers.
