==Sewing machines and cycles== Born '''Pierre Alexandre Darracq''' in [[Bordeaux]], France, of [[Basque people|Basque]] parents, he trained as a draftsman at the Arsenal in [[Tarbes]], in the [[Hautes-Pyrénées]] département. He later worked at the [[Hurtu]] factory manufacturing sewing machines.
