==Etymology== The term alimony comes from the Latin word {{lang|la|[[wikt:alimonia#Latin|alimonia]]}} {{gloss|nourishment, sustenance}}, from {{lang|la|[[wikt:alere|alere]]}} {{gloss|to nourish}}.
