==Early life==
Graebner was born in Cleveland, Ohio, the only child of Paul Graebner, a dentist,<ref>{{cite magazine |date=31 May 1969 |title=Levels of the Game—I |url=https://www.newyorker.com/magazine/1969/06/07/arthur-ashe-profile-levels-of-the-game-i |magazine=New Yorker |location=New York |access-date=2024-08-26}}</ref> and his wife, the former Janice Clark. He graduated from [[Northwestern University]], where he joined the [[Delta Upsilon]] fraternity.
