==Geography==

The predominant industries are tourism and fishing.

The island is connected (via Seongam-do and Tan-do) to the mainland in the south-east by road bridges, to Hyeong-do ({{Korean|hangul=형도|labels=no}}) (and thence the mainland) in the north-east by several routes due to land reclamation efforts, and to Seonjae-do ({{Korean|hangul=선재도|labels=no}}) (and thence [[Yeongheung Island]] ({{Korean|hangul=영흥도|labels=no}}) and others) to the west by a further road bridge.

===Environment===
Due to rising mudflats, the island has merged with neighbouring Seongam-do ({{Korean|hangul=선감도|labels=no}}) and Tan-do ({{Korean|hangul=탄도|labels=no}}). It is a [[Ramsar site]] and has also been designated an [[Important Bird Area]] (IBA) by [[BirdLife International]] because its intertidal [[mudflat]]s support significant populations of breeding [[Chinese egret]]s, as well as of [[dunlin]]s and [[common greenshank]]s on passage.<ref name=bli>{{cite web |url= https://datazone.birdlife.org/site/factsheet/daebu-do-island-iba-south-korea|title=Daebu-do island|author=<!--Not stated--> |date=2024|website= BirdLife Data Zone|publisher= BirdLife International|access-date= 2024-10-17}}</ref>
