==Education and career== Conte attended public schools in [[Lakewood, Ohio]], a suburb of [[Cleveland]]. His earliest musical experiences were attending rehearsals of Robert Shaw’s Cleveland Orchestra Chorus, of which his mother Nancy was a member, and singing in the doo-wop vocal group Shameful and the Seven Sinners. Since 1985, Conte has been Professor of Composition at the [[San Francisco Conservatory of Music]].
