==Early life==

Doug Anthony was educated at Murwillumbah Primary School and [[Murwillumbah High School]], before attending [[The King's School, Parramatta|The King's School]] in [[Sydney]] (1943–1946) and then [[University of Queensland Gatton Campus|Gatton College]] in [[Queensland]].<ref name="ABC"/><ref>{{cite news|url=http://trove.nla.gov.au/newspaper/article/131782861|title=A shrewd brain ticks behind the boyish grin|date=7 May 1969|page=17|work=The Canberra Times|first=Bruce|last=Juddery|author-link=Bruce Juddery}}</ref> After graduating he took up dairy farming near Murwillumbah.
