== Political career == Howlett was elected to the [[London Assembly]] on 4 May 2000 and re-elected on 10 June 2004. She served until May 2008.<ref name=":0">{{Cite web|url=https://www.london.gov.uk/about-us/london-assembly/about-london-assembly/former-members-london-assembly|title=Former members of the London Assembly|date=26 November 2015|website=London Government UK|access-date=10 October 2016}}</ref> Her positions included: * Deputy Chair of the Health and Public Services Committee * Member of the Standards Committee * Member of the Transport Committee * Member of the Metropolitan Police Authority * Conservative Group's spokesman on health<ref name=":0" /> Howlett, was Wandsworth councillor since 1986<ref name=":1">{{Cite web|url=https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2000/may/06/election2000.uk4|title=Profiles of the new members Election 2000 7 May 2000|date=6 May 2000|website=The Guardian|access-date=19 October 2016}}</ref> in the [[London Borough of Wandsworth]], where she is a former Mayor 1998/9 and former Chairman of the Social Services and Education Committees. She is a member of the London Regional Arts Council.
