==Causes== Feature creep may arise from the desire to provide the consumer with a more useful or desirable product in order to increase sales or distribution. Once a product does everything that it is designed to do, the manufacturer may add functions some users might consider unneeded (sometimes at the cost of efficiency) or continue with the original version (at the cost of a perceived lack of improvement). Feature creep may also arise as a result of [[Design by committee|compromise from a committee]] implementing several different viewpoints or [[Use case|use cases]] in the same product, even for opportunistic reasons.<ref>{{Cite journal |last1=Krystallis |first1=Ilias |last2=Locatelli |first2=Giorgio |date=2022-09-01 |title=Normalizing White-Collar Wrongdoing in Professional Service Firms |url=https://ascelibrary.org/doi/10.1061/%28ASCE%29ME.1943-5479.0001079 |journal=Journal of Management in Engineering |language=EN |volume=38 |issue=5 |pages=04022049 |doi=10.1061/(ASCE)ME.1943-5479.0001079 |s2cid=250326876 |issn=1943-5479|hdl=11311/1228318 |hdl-access=free }}</ref> As more features are added to support each approach, cross-conversion features between the multiple paradigms may further complicate the total features.
