==Early life==
Genyusha Zelkovicz was born in [[Łódź]], Poland<ref name="AMG">{{cite web|url=http://www.allmusic.com/artist/genya-ravan-mn0000165261/biography|title=Genya Ravan|publisher=AllMusic|access-date=September 7, 2014}}</ref> in a Jewish family in 1940 and emigrated to the United States in 1947, accompanied by her parents and one sister.
