==Description== ''Duke of Edinburgh'' [[Displacement (ship)|displaced]] {{convert|12590|LT|t|lk=on}} as built and {{convert|13965|LT|t}} [[Deep load|fully loaded]]. The ship had an [[length overall|overall length]] of {{convert|505|ft|6|in|m|1}}, a [[beam (nautical)|beam]] of {{convert|73|ft|6|in|m|1}} and a [[draft (ship)|draught]] of {{convert|27|ft|m|1}}. She was powered by a pair of four-cylinder [[triple-expansion steam engine]]s, each driving one [[propeller shaft]] using steam provided by 20 [[Babcock & Wilcox boiler]]s and 6 [[Scotch marine boiler|cylindrical boilers]]. The engines produced a total of {{convert|23000|ihp|lk=on}} that was designed to give a maximum speed of {{convert|23|kn|lk=in}}. The ship carried a maximum of {{convert|2,150|LT|t}} of coal and an additional {{convert|600|LT|t|0}} of [[fuel oil]] that was sprayed on the coal to increase its burn rate. At full capacity, she could steam for {{convert|8,130|nmi|lk=in}} at a speed of {{convert|10|kn}}. The guns were distributed in two [[centerline (nautical)|centreline]] turrets (one each fore and one aft) and four turrets disposed in the corners about the [[Funnel (ship)|funnels]]. Her secondary armament of ten [[BL 6 inch Mk XI naval gun|BL {{convert|6|in|0|adj=on}} Mk XI guns]] was arranged in single [[casemate#Naval|casemates]]. They were mounted [[amidships]] on the main deck and were only usable in calm weather. Twenty [[Vickers]] [[quick-firing gun|quick-firing (QF)]] [[Ordnance QF 3 pounder Vickers|three-pounders ({{cvt|47|mm|in|order=flip}})]] were fitted, six on turret roofs and fourteen in the [[superstructure]].
