==Legislative career== A [[Progressive Conservative Party of Manitoba|Progressive Conservative]], Enns was first elected to the [[Legislative Assembly of Manitoba]] in 1966, for the rural riding of [[Rockwood-Iberville]].<ref name="members"/> In 1969, redistribution placed Enns in the riding of [[Lakeside (electoral district)|Lakeside]], where he defeated [[Manitoba Liberal Party|Liberal]] leader [[Robert Bend]] by about 350 votes. However, he would never face another election nearly that close, and was reelected in 1973, 1977, 1981, 1986, 1988, 1990, 1995 and 1999. He held the seat for 34 years; his predecessor, former [[Premier of Manitoba]] [[Douglas Lloyd Campbell|Douglas Campbell]], had held it for 47 years.<ref name="members"/>
