== Biography == A lawyer, a [[Sunni]] Muslim, and a member of the [[National Democratic Party (Iraq)|National Democratic Party]], Hashim Abderrahman al-Shibli was appointed Minister of Justice in September 2003.<ref>{{Cite news |date=2003-09-01 |title=Iraq's post-war cabinet |language=en-GB |work=BBC News |url=http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/middle_east/3199561.stm |access-date=2023-05-08}}</ref> In 2005, he was nominated to the post of Human Rights Minister in the [[Iraqi Transitional Government]] which he turned down, saying he wasn't consulted before being nominated.
