==History== The town was originally called "New Huntington", but the name was changed to "Huntington" in October 1795.<ref>{{ cite web |title=History of Chittenden County, Vermont, with illustrations and biographical sketches of some of its prominent men and pioneers |year=1886 |url=https://archive.org/stream/cu31924028837536#page/n685 |page=614 }}</ref> It was named for landholders Josiah, Charles and Marmaduke Hunt.<ref> {{cite web|url=http://www.epodunk.com/cgi-bin/genInfo.php?locIndex=25148|title=Profile for Huntington, Vermont|publisher=[[ePodunk]]|access-date=May 8, 2010}}</ref> The [[Huntington Lower Village Church]] was listed on the [[National Register of Historic Places]] in 1984. Its predecessor church building, constructed in 1839 and later used as the town hall and fire department, was established by Black Baptist preacher [[Charles Bowles (minister)|Charles Bowles]] in 1839.
