==Geography==
Huntington is located in southeastern Fairfax County at {{coord|38|47|33|N|77|4|20|W|type:city}} (38.792563, &minus;77.072120).<ref name="GR1">{{cite web|url=https://www.census.gov/geographies/reference-files/time-series/geo/gazetteer-files.html|publisher=[[United States Census Bureau]]|access-date=2011-04-23|date=2011-02-12|title=US Gazetteer files: 2010, 2000, and 1990}}</ref> It is bordered to the north by the city of Alexandria, to the southeast by [[Belle Haven, Fairfax County, Virginia|Belle Haven]], and to the west by [[Rose Hill, Fairfax County, Virginia|Rose Hill]]. [[U.S. Route 1 in Virginia|U.S. Route 1]] forms the border between Huntington and Belle Haven, and the boundary with Rose Hill is drawn to follow Poag Street, Shaffer Drive, Florence Lane, and Telegraph Road. Downtown Alexandria ([[Old Town Alexandria|Old Town]]) is {{convert|2|mi|0}} to the northeast, and downtown [[Washington, D.C.]] is {{convert|10|mi|0}} to the north.

According to the [[United States Census Bureau]], the Huntington CDP has a total area of {{convert|2.9|sqkm|order=flip}}, of which {{convert|2.8|sqkm|order=flip}} is land and {{convert|0.1|sqkm|order=flip|2}}, or 3.47%, is water.<ref name="Census 2010"/>
