==kernel of an article, idea at least== Can any of you kind folks suggets where this idea might find fruition? I have been thinking of an article or subsection on the geographic etymology of medieval trade goods, (it's horrible, but I haven't come up with a better title) what I mean is the practice where we even today call objects by where things were made locally or the trade cities that were sources for them at the time, vide *Tangerine=Tangier *Ginger=Zanzibar *Cashmere=Kashmir *Afghan blankets=Afghanistan *Angora=Ankara *Muscadine=Masqat *Damask cloth=Damascus *Turquoise=Turkey as well as that some considered to be such a name is in fact a false etymology, vide *Alabaster=not really from Halab *Persimmon=not being related to Persia Please let me know your thoughts. :) Chris 18:53, 26 May 2007 (UTC)
