==Early life== Jacob Collamer was born in [[Troy, New York|Troy]], [[New York (state)|New York]] on January 8, 1791, the son of Samuel Collamer and Elizabeth (Van Arnum) Collamer, and his family moved to [[Burlington, Vermont]] in 1795.<ref>{{cite book |last=Barrett |first=James |date=1868 |title=Memorial Address on the Life and Character of the Hon.
