==Early life==

In 1980, after several years performing in playhouses on the [[West Coast of the United States|West Coast]], Combs moved to Los Angeles. He landed his first role in the film ''[[Honky Tonk Freeway]]'' (1981), playing an unnamed drive-in teller.
