== Early life == Duffy was born on 1 October 1974 in [[Donaghmede]], [[Dublin]] to parents Sean and Pat. He has an older brother, Derek, and a younger brother, John. He was raised [[Roman Catholic]]. As a young child he contracted [[pneumonia]]. He attended primary school at Belgrove National School and secondary school at [[Ardscoil Rís, Dublin|Ardscoil Rís]] and [[Plunket College of Further Education|Plunket's]].<ref>{{cite news|url=https://www.irishtimes.com/news/education/in-my-life-1.1010751 |title=In my life - Keith Duffy, singer, actor and presenter of TV3's The Box |work=[[Irish Times]] |date=3 October 2006|access-date=19 July 2024}}</ref> Between the ages of 7 and 18 he played [[hurling]] and [[Gaelic football]], representing the [[Dublin GAA|Dublin]] under-16 hurling team for three years.
